 Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center

 Saint Alphonsus 381-bed medical center is the region's Trauma Center and the home to the Life Flight emergency helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Saint Alphonsus is a full-service hospital that has been nationally recognized for its cardiology and orthopedic care and is well respected for its trauma, neurosurgery, radiology, and critical care departments. Rotations in medicine, emergency medicine, and surgery are done at Saint Alphonsus.


 St. Luke's Regional Medical Center

A 334-bed medical center, St. Luke's is recognized as a leader in cardiology, oncology, obstetrics, and pediatrics. The hospital includes a large newborn nursery, a Level III NICU, an extensive obstetrical unit with support from perinatologists, a wide range of pediatric specialty services, and a pediatric ICU along with the standard full range of adult medical services. Rotations in NICU, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and obstetrics are done at St. Luke's.


 Boise VA Medical Center

Boise VAMC, with 87 active beds, provides general medical and surgical services to veterans. The hospital includes an inpatient medicine unit, a small psychiatric inpatient unit, and an outpatient health clinic. The VAMC also sponsors fellowships in geriatrics, pulmonary medicine, and infectious diseases. They also have an outstanding research program. First year residents from FMRI rotate for 2 months on the inpatient internal medicine services, supervised by second year internal medicine residents from the University of Washington. 


 Medical Community

Boise has a sophisticated medical community with over 700 physicians. All of the medical, surgical, and surgical subspecialties are represented. Boise is the referral center for one-half million people in an area of approximately 10,000 square miles.
